Made exclusively for the Noguchi Museum by artist Agelio Batle. Each Graphite Object was meticulously handcrafted in Batle’s San Francisco studio through a unique process he invented. Natural graphite (remains of prehistoric plant life) was bonded to smudge-resistant compounds under intense pressure in special forms. Refined using traditional burnishing and polishing techniques, the piece is completed. All its surfaces can draw and the graphite will resist staining hands.
